Just got the Tuskegee S Mint Circulation Grade. That is the last quarter in the ATB series. Now I am done with quarters completely. I will not pursue the next batch of ballast the mint will push on us. I quit the Kennedy Half Dollar collection a while back as well as the commemorative coin programs. This is the last year for the current ASE. That will end also. I will get one of the new style just for effect as I did with the Innovation Series. I got the first one and no more. I am still a coin collector, that will never end. Perhaps I will use my resources to upgrade my sets. I doubt it, but it is possible.
When I finally sold my collection of certified Morgan Dollars a few years ago, I felt like I had something taken from me that I would never recover. I no longer have an interest in grading Morgans or sorting them for their VAM's. Now, I just pass over the GTG's for Morgans. C'est la vie!
Congratulations! You're saving yourself time and money for the goodies that are truly historical. Stick with ancients instead of blowing bucks on the big new gimmick. That's where I'm at too... although i did try for a proof 1/10 oz a couple weeks ago
For the Twentieth Century and a few years before and several years after I have all the nickels (1883 to date), all the dimes, all the half dollars, all the silver dollars and most all pennies Flying Eagle to date (missing the 6 or 7 very difficult ones) and all but the very difficult quarters. I feel like I have had a good run at the collecting hobby. Since the vast majority (up until the 60's) I found in circulation or traded with friends for in our little non-official club. I really don't want to "upgrade". I think I will work on ancients.
I'm of the same thinking, although I won't be getting an example of the new ASE. I won't save any more quarters except the one-off 2021 Washington Crossing the Delaware ones that come out soon (or are they already out?). My one weakness at this point is the Native American $1's. I will maintain that set. Done with the Innovation $1's after I got the 1st one.
No new ASE? I don't know if that's one I can resist. Assuming it's cost is similar to the normal bullion coins.
Well, I have all the ASE's from the beginning. I will get this last one and one new one. I have all the Modern Commemoratives up until I think 2018 when I quit them.
I hear you @Inspector43 and I'm with you. Forget the newer stuff, just upgrade what you have or start a new set of older coins. It worked for me.
My husband exchanged for two rolls of quarters and both were all of these. This was the first one out of roll. Thought it was machine coin error but look at his head above. Some of the other ones in that roll have some issues. Beautiful coin.
Ah, the good old days. I recall when we used to swap finds in our little coin club. Look, I know it’s none of my business where you go from here, but please, and I’m asking you nicely, whatever you do, don’t let it require a microscope to do it. Good luck!
Just a comparison. And it was an accident he just so happened to get the 2021s. I just asked for two rolls of quarters. I will not post another. Ty!
And you may want to look a little harder. I must have gotten the roll that had a lot of mishaps. Beautiful coin!
