New Years Eve will be a quiet evening at home here at Flavian Fanatic headquarters. A perfect time to unboxed my final coin of 2021, a not too shabby plate coin!

    Æ Obol, 3.83g
    Alexandria mint, 75-76 AD
Obv: ΑΥΤΟΚ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ ΟΥΕΣΠΑΣΙΑΝΟΥ; Head of Vespasian, laureate, r.
Rev: LH; Dikaiosyne standing l., with scales and sceptre
RPC 2454 (4 spec.). Emmett 220.8. Dattari-Savio pl. 14, no number first line top right (this coin).
    Ex Naville 70, 12 December 2021, lot 259.

This Alexandrian regnal year 8 obol features a somewhat rare reverse type of Dikaiosyne, the personification of righteousness and justice, holding her attributes a scale and sceptre. Here she represents the justice administered by the state.

This Dattari-Savio plate coin lacks a catalogue number in the plates. This reference can be a most vexing one to use!

    Happy New year!
