    Arrived today -

This coin came up for auction about two weeks ago. It is quite scarce, although the grade of this example is probably lower mid-range for this crude type, in my opinion. It has an interesting reverse with a good portion of CAES MET visible from around one o'clock to about four o'clock.

Unfortunately this coin has tiny, incipient traces of bronze disease, so into the distilled water bath it goes for the next several days. With some luck the corrosion process can be halted.

Can you post the attribution in case someone does a search later on? I find CT to be a useful archive :).

    Thanks.

There was the usual flurry of bidding in the last minute of the listing, so it sold for $102 US, which is somewhat higher than I was planning for, but it is a nice type coin.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

I updated the coin's description. I guess I am kind of lazy this time of the year - a good time to hibernate.

This coin type may be rare but not expensive ;). Pictured below is one that sold at CNG 219 for $60.00

Very nice, Al. Yes, as is often the case with these coins, rarity or scarcity do not necessarily translate into high values. I guess the exceptions would be examples that are truly high grade and attractive.

There's another coin of this type on eBay for $67.50 or best offer:
