    I found a quarter with what I think is a long die break thru Washington's head . Is this a die break and does it have value ?[IMG][IMG][IMG] IMG_022 - Copy.JPG IMG_022 - Copy.JPG

Don't trust me at all since I am stupid, wait for other peoples opinions. But I think it's damage.

I would say scratches but parts of it are raised like a die chip . Not cut into the coin but pushing outwards . It is really visible under the T .

Maybe you will accept an answer from another member. You’ll have to wait for someone else to respond.

It looks raised to me as well. From the right side of "U" in United to the bottom of the nose. Color looks the same too.

The bottom of it does look like a crack. Anticipating your next question, 25 cents, crack or no crack.

A die chip doesn't preclude a scratch... nor vice versa.

If it’s a scratch, wouldn’t all the high surface areas display a deep channel across the coin and the lower points not? Does the scratch run across the letter IMG_2252.jpeg T or under it?

when I found this coin I took a pencil and dragged it across the scratched line. The grafite ended up on both sides of the line not in it. Raised line?
