This is a bit unusual for me, but this posting is of a Buy it Now, rather than a true auction. It is a slabbed, but unattributed S-1 AMERI. It is also the only use of the First Reverse A die. All other chain reverses are Reverse C. (Reverse B 'dies' are Post Mint alterations to Reverse C to make them look like Reverse A) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1793-Chain-Cent-ANACS-G-4-Details-With-problems-/230780615274?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item35bb98ba6a
Thanks Marshall. Wish they posted better pictures. The damage just looks to bad for me, but others might be interested.
Yes, thanks for flagging, but that one is too far gone for me too - gives new meaning to the words 'severely corroded'. I guess I should stop feeling bad about my own (severely) corroded S-3.
There's no question is has severe problems. But there are a limited nimber of S-1s available and many of these have problems. It's just a matter of matching up the coins with buyers who can stomach the particular problems at the right discounted price. I, myself, am partial to detail, even if other damage is severe. But it helps me to obtain coins as a collector when others don't agree by keeping them affordable. Of course, you have to keep that in mind when you part with your treasures. Example
