I was just wondering if purchasing Large Cents in About Good condition is a good idea?
    I picked up 1802 and a 1805 for $17.00 a piece. I know the 1805 there was only 941,116 made and the 1802 3,435,100!

If you're happy with them stepthenwho then they're a good idea. If you can't afford one in a better grade or don't want to pay more than what you paid, then it all sounds good to me. Bottom line...buy what you like.

If you are an "investor" then they are not the coins to be buying. If on the other hand you are a collector like most of us then it is buy as you like. Both of those coins Grey Sheet at $22 in About Good so I think you did pretty good.

Weather a coin is AG or MS 66 buy a coin that's good for the grade. Now with the Large Cents there can be difficult time trying to buy an problem free AG but they are out there.
