Is this a lamination error? I've never seen one before, so I'm not certain but it looks like it to me. Also is there doubling or something going on with my "5"? Final question: what kind of value would you place on this coin?
I would incline to agree with the lamination, it's more pronounced under the date than that blemish on the field. Usually with lamination, either the piece is completely missing or you have something what you have where it looks like a crack (piece still intact). In any case, it's not much of a premium for something as small as that.
