Ballabh, This one is another one that was seen by the dozens in zaveri bazaar. what are your thoughts on it? thanks
VS 1915 is the key date for the coins of Desalji and commands a premium over other dates, I will be hesitant to buy this coin in zaveri bazaar. The fact is that probably less then 5% gold koris offered in zaveri bazaar are genuine. Most of them in this bazaar were struck in last 20-30 years to meet the local demand for bullion coins. I don’t have access to my Desalji’s gold koris at this moment, so can’t compare the calligraphy etc. However the executions of couple of urdu characters are pretty off (specially the J character in mint name “Bhuj”). Also, the numeral 1 in date doesn’t look like a kutchi numeral but looks like a modern Gujarati or Hindi numeral. I may buy this coin from a reputable coin dealer with appropriate return privileges but will never in zaveri bazaar. Did you bought this coin? Regards, Ballabh Garg
Here is a Pragmalji’s 25 kori (dated VS 1926 and one year type coin). This will show how number 1 was written in most of the earlier Kutch coins. PragmalJi's Gold Kori Regards, Ballabh Garg
an indian dealer is offering this on ebay but he based here in the us. i am very skeptical a lot of the coins have made it from zaveri bazaat to all of the world. i will let this coin go. thanks.
