Several months ago I conducted a little test on another list. I was new to the list but not new to the hobby. I'd posted a picture of a coin with a very scarce die anomaly. The price of the the coin w/o the 'die cud' was significantly less than the much scarcer (R-6/7) variety with it. I mentioned I was considering selling the piece and if anyone was interested please make a private offer and I'd consider it. Chuckle, you should have seen the lowball offers I received but NONE mentioned the relatively obvious 'cud' except one individual who informed the thread is was simply machine doubling (???) and wasn't even worth minimum money. This after I declined his private offer of average cash... LOL. Just Thinking Bone
Were you able to verify that any of the people making offers did recognize the rarity prior to making the low offer?
I hope so, several of the members who made offers were (self acknowledged) semi-experts on the series. I received offers from roughly 5% of the active list members, 13 individuals made some sort of overture and yes Skylark, your offer of $5.99 CDN still stands as the HIGH offer, LOL Bone
