Obv: Bust of Queen Rev: arm with laurel coming from clouds holds a crown over inscription AVITAM ET AVCTAM (Ancestral and Enlarged). Size: 33.65 mm; 20.56 g. Only surviving child of King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden and his wife Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg. As the heiress presumptive, at the age of six, she succeeded her father to the throne of Sweden upon his death at the Battle of Lützen in the Thirty Years' War. While a caretaker government, matters of state were run by her guardian, regent and adviser Axel Oxenstierna. Converted to Catholicism and abdicated her throne in 1654. Spent her latter years in France and Rome. She died April 19 1689 at the age of 62
Nice. That reverse is quite the unique design. Thanks for the history, can't ever hear too much of that. I realize it is not a coin but it shares the stark simplicity I see on some Scandinavian coinage.
