I found this king edward iii penny few days ago in quite nice condition. It was minted in Oxford and the moneyer is gefrei. Dats 1248 to 1250 .
Good find for a decent condition coin. I'm trying to fill in my collection of early English kings and I find it quite slow going.
It's gotten harder since I started working on my collection about six years ago. The kings before William the Conqueror have gotten quite pricey, especially the hard to find ones. I bought an Edward the Martyr from a London dealer and had to pay well for it. Bear in mind that the Norman kings after William the Conqueror issued really low quality coins that got worse as it moved from Rufus, Henry I and Stephen. The worst were for Stephen. These two Stephen pennies are about is good as your are going to find. One is in an NGC EF-40 holder, and the second WAS in an NGC EF-40 holder.
