Lately I have been venturing into some new territory. Meaning, I am letting other people buy all the Jefferson nickels for a while. I decided to start trying to find some older silver collectible coins that aren't slugs. I started by upgrading my 1877 half dollar, and the other 3 came along for the ride from a dealer friend. I feel the 1877 had a light cleaning sometime in her career, but she sure is pretty. It was raw, and for the price I couldn't let it go. A beautiful AU, in my opinion. 1877 Seated liberty Half Dollar My dealer hooks me up with these blazer Walkers (the short set years/mm's) whenever he gets them. I again, can never turn them down for the price. I suppose these are what some might refer to as sliders. Maybe? The only sliders i ever heard of are hamburgers from White Castle. 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar 1945 S Walking Liberty Half Dollar This is now my fourth SLQ. I am really starting to appreciate these quarters. I always stayed away from them due to the price. Patience though, and I will someday step up to an MS example. Not to mention, I still need the type 1 for the type set. I just don't want to settle on a low grade. Another victim of an old cleaning that really doesn't bother me in the slightest. 1929 S Standing Liberty Quarter I'll show this one again. I have only purchased two (other two were in the collection given to me) SLQ's, both this week, and I didn't even realize they were the same year/mm. Fine with me! Thanks for looking. As always, comments are welcome. -greg
No sir. I rarely buy slabbed. They do come from a trusted dealer and his personal opinion on grades are if anything, too low.
Loving the seated gbroke. I'm still looking for mine. Like brooklyn I'm kind of feeling the withdrawal lol. I found one but it was already sold. I'll keep hunting.
Nice stuff Greg. I used to pick SLQ's out of the change as a kid, but most of 'em lacked a date (forget the mint mark). You've only served to remind me that I need to obtain (sometime in the near future) an example most notable. It's on the 'to do' list.......
