Purchased as good but environmentally challenged this key date 1955 DDO was posted in a forum I am a member with before and after some rather masterful restoration efforts. An astute friend noticed a small detail and identified it as a counterfeit! I love these type of research opportunities- diagnostics from a Michael Fahey digital Coin World article as shown. And a past ANA/ ANACS counterfeit article talked about a similar diagnostic, but the image is pretty poor. Next steps- owner is sending it to me and I will forward to Skip at ICG.
