Hey Ya'll I see that the Kentucky Coin Show in Jefferson IN (rigth across the border from KY) is coming up next month....I think its the 22-23ed---- Is anyone going to be there???...I hope to go but don't know what day---I have something big happning on the 23'rd but it is later that day so I might could make it in the morning but maybe just maybe I could come on FRI.... If anyone else is going to be there let me know and maybe we can meet---- I might come even if I don't have any money to spend---that wouldn't be as fun as buying but I've gone to shows before without any money For ya'll that don't know anything about it---it normaly has 20-30 tables---the dealers are for the most part helpfull and friendly---a ton of coins to look at with almost anything you can want for sale---prices all over the board--- Speedy
I've gone for the last 3 years and have had a blast everytime--last time I completed my Wheat Cent collection while there. Speedy
As a once (and hopefully future) Louisvillian, I always got a chuckle out of the fact that the Kentucky State Coin Show was in Indiana.
Hey KLJ I know what you mean---maybe they can get the room cheaper then anyplace in KY. Sure did enjoy meeting you last year---its fun to meet a member of the forums face to face--I also met Conder101 the year before Speedy
It's "Y'all" not ya'll. The contraction of you and all requires the user to drop the 'ou' from 'you' and add 'all', thus the apostrophie would replace the 'ou'. Having the apostophie in the middle of the word make it sound like you're holding the L as if to sound out the word. Having been corrected on proper southern English, I ain't gonna tell you again. Post pics of what you get!!!
I live in Alexandria Kentucky which is about 7 minutes south of cincinatti and 20 minutes east of indiana so ill have to see if i can make it. as a new collector it should be great for me!
I suppose that Ya'll is the southern contraction for "Ya will" as in "I bet ya'll find some nice coins at the show."
Down here you hear people use both---and if you ask someone how to spell it you will hear both ways---its just a choice---I would say that you are rigth in saying ya'll...but just don't always spell it that way Speedy
According to my American Heritage Dictionary (published in 1985 - I purchased it when I began college in 1989), the "correct" spelling is y'all. Speedy - There's also a Derby City Coin Club show in Louisville twice a year. They tend to have lower condition stuff than the annual state show, but good stuff can be found. I got my 1916D Merc there several years ago for $200.
Ahh - to make sure eveyone pronounces it correctly -- lou-a-ville. And I went to one early this year. It was too crowded for me to really get a look at much. Even though the guy with the SGS stuff had plenty of room. People were lined up to get into the baskets of wheaties and indian head cents. One dealer said that it had been like that all day long - I got there around 3 in the afternoon. Hopefully I can get over to Indiana that weekend. And I was up near Alexandria last weekend - my nephews HS soccer team played St. Henry in Erlanger.
Last year the SGS guy was there---I just passed by...I don't think he was getting much business. The grab baskets are most of the time the crowded place---but that is fine with me because most of the time I'm looking for dates that aren't going to be in there. I still look through them if I can find one that isn't being searched at the time. Speedy
Must have been the same guy. I couldn't get closed to searching through some of the baskets - but it was good to see that some of the baskets were kids marking off the ones they needed. I just could not find anything I was interested in.
The Florence Ky Mall watertower say's "Y'All"...hehe Speedy Email me w/ info...plz SilverDollarMan@gmail.com
This will be my first coin show. I've signed up to work one of the days; I think it will be Friday morning. What I want to do is work for a few hours and then browse that first day, and then go back a second time near the end of the show. If anyone is there on Friday morning, look for me!
