kennedy half

    I'm wondering if anyone knows what causes this to the letters and numbers to the obverse on this 1983 Kennedy Half. It looks as if extra material is spread inward.. Ignore the pointer.

    I think I see what you're referring to. If so, it might just be the result of a combination of the plating and the lift-off of the die from these numbers and letters which aren't "cut" too "squarely" on these dies to begin with. Does that make sense?

    Or it could be micro-meteors. :D

    Well I don't know. I have another 1983 and it has similar markings so it must be bad dies or what you say.
