I want to try and collect some of the double die Kennedy Halves. I would appreciate someone telling me what the letters DDO-001, DMR-2, FS#-015 on a 1974 D Kennedy Half mean. The name of a book that would give me this info on the halves would also be helpful. Thank you, Jim This coin is now for sale on ebay: 1974-D Kennedy, MS-63 - DDO-001, DMR-2, FS#-015
Hey Rugen A coin dealer a town over from you has the 1974-D DD in a NGC slab...PM me if you want more info (I AM NOT THE SELLER SO I'M NOT SELLING THE COIN ONLY PASSING ON THE INFO) and the number.... Speedy
"DDO-001" is the identification number for that particular obverse die variety. "DDO" is an abbreviation for "Doubled Die Obverse". "DMR-2" is the identification number for that particular combination of obverse and reverse die varieties. "DMR" is an abbreviation for "Die Marriage Registry". "FS#-015" is the identification number as it is found in "The Cherrypicker's Guide". "FS" is an abbreviation for "Fivaz-Stanton" listing. These are two that I would recommend for anyone interested in Kennedy Half Dollar die varieties...
Go to the CONECA site http://www.conecaonline.org/variety_listings.html, you can see all of the doubled die listings and descriptions for the Kennedy Half Dollar.
