Welcom to CT Gary, you'll need to uploaded a much clearer and better lit pic. Is what you're seeing raised off the surface of the coin or is it sunk into the coin?

Notice that the "I" is impressed into the field of the coin. That was added to the coin after it left the mint. You have nothing more than a damaged coin.

After 43 years of circulation? I'm absolutely positive that it didn't get hit by a meteorite.

You need to give us a better close-up of the "O".

Fifty Cents. The O in God has taken a hit and is damaged. The I is stamped into the backfield and is PMD.

For something like this, a quick search of completed ebay listings should allow you to come up with a somewhat reasonable retail number. I doubt it's much though; it appears to have been around the block a few times, and while silver, it's fineness is less than we're used to (.72 iirc), meaning melt would be minimal.

I have no idea what the silver content of a 1920 50 Centavos Mexican piece might be.

Quite frankly, that question should have been in another thread.

And that's why I try to avoid foreign questions. ;)

Thank you (Rick also) for the correction.

Unless im missing out on an inside joke, the OP posted a 1972 Kennedy half, the last 40% circulation strike kennedys were in 1970...this is a clad coin.

I must add here that the 1972 Kennedy half dollar has zero silver content.

You're right, the 50 centavo that was posted is .720 silver. I believe some of the people that corrected you missed that the OP posted a second coin.

    Silver content/value for Mexican coins:

And thank you as well... either way though, right or wrong, I should have confirmed it before initially posting, but certainly after the correction. You know what they say about assuming.... ;)
