The year 2024 will be 60 years for the Kennedy half dollar's birthday. Personally, I think it's time for a change. After all, Kennedy was not the only President to be assassinated. James Garfield & William McKinley also met their untimely deaths this way. We already have Lincoln on the cent. I know you are thinking, why more dead Presidents? I agree. How about bringing back a classic design like the Walking Liberty Half or maybe even use a pattern design that did not make it the first time around. Just a thought, what are your thoughts?

I agree and really like the idea of previously submitted patterns having a second chance. There were some as good as the Walker.

    Stolen from the interweb:

2027-2030—Paralympic Sports The Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act authorizes the redesign of the half dollar between 2027 and 2030 with images on the reverse “emblematic of a sport tailored to athletes with a range of disabilities, including physical impairment, vision impairment and intellectual impairment.” Each half dollar would feature a single Paralympic sport after consultation with U.S. Paralympics, with one sport featured each year (§4).

Thanks for the post, but I can't side with this idea. We have already plenty of this type of material in (Olympic material) Commemoratives, medals, etc. Don't get me wrong, it sounds worthwhile but should be better on a commemorative piece(s). We need something very powerful that grabs attention and is respected as being singularly associated with the United States. The eagle or a Liberty Bust of some type would garner much more attention than something that has likely already been done by another country.

I agree. The way the this report appears, there was a brainstorming session for new designs and the ideas were plugged into future remakes. I think that we have already seen the best of that list of ideas.

I'm a great grandson of a man that settled in the United States in late 1700's. He started in the Virginia's and settled in Tennessee where my mother was born in Strawberry Plains in 1925. They moved to Hagerstown, Indiana when she was 10.
My grandfather was a Deputy Sheriff in Strawberry Plains and Hagerstown where he also farmed.
We've had coins about several subjects over the years. How about quarters about those heroes that worked to make this country what it is? I don't have any ideas, but I'm sure that there are people at the Mint that can come up with some ideas.
When they made the 2022 Gold Coin with the Horse, I thought they had a great idea. I got the Silver Coins as well.
How about 12 coins about our American Heritage with each month about the work our ancestors did to create this great nation we are blessed to live in with all its Worts.
The coins/medals that they did this year to memorialize the great work the Women and Men have done and are still doing while we go to our workplace and let them worry about how to protect us. Serving in the Army during Vietnam with my father who served in the South Pacific during World War II, Korean during the Korean War, and Vietnam. My brother served in the Navy on a ship protecting the harbor of Vietnam to protect the men and women serving and living there.
There are so many topics that are available to the Mint, yet, the ones they put out now, aren't up to the Standing Liberty Quarter or the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, and so many others that we love and collect.
One letter won't get them moving.
I love this nation and the hobby that work so hard to make something that represents so much that shows us some things that our country has done.
There is more to do. How can we move the Mint to get other topics under consideration.
Sorry. I get a little moved sometimes. Thanks to all of you that served and the many others that protected our homes while our loved ones are away.
