so last week i posted a thread about how i was leaving coins in places for people to find and hopefully getting them interested in coin collecting. well this week end i went to my in laws house (isnt every one supposed to hate their in-laws) and we got talkig about my collecting habbits. so then my father inlaw opens a draw an says "here you can add these to your collection if you want" and it was this awsome florin (pictured) and a commerative crow (not pictured). then the next day my neighbour pops over (isnt every one supposed to hate their neighbours too? (well i do hate the ones on the other side)) and we get talking about how i like to fossill hunt and the he goes and gets this one he found and gives it to me. my jaw nearly dropped as its not one of the best in my collection. i know its not a coin but i am including a picture of it anyway because it is so cool. so the moral of the story? good good things and you get free stuff! lol. good day and happy mothers day to all you across the pond (mothersday here was a month ago)
I've tossed dozens of Buffs and hundreds of wheats into circulation in hopes that somebody finds them and gets into collecting. Coinage is such an important part of our history and its sad to see thats its being forgotten with the rising popularity of credit cards and electronic payments.
Hey Calum, wish I had your neighbors and your in-laws (generaly speaking, they was always "outlaws").....
Nice Calum, congrats. I don't collect fossils either, but that really is cool. I have great in-laws and neighbors, so I guess I'm double blessed. Nothing here to complain about. Bruce
