Please take a stab at grading it. I'll report back on the actual grade later.

Looks like it could be a 64, but I'm going to say a 63 because of the multiple hits and nicks....

MS63 - but the luster is not showing correctly to me. I wish the pictures were a little more clear and not so much glare.

I'll say 64, but it's more likely a 63. It depends on if NGC felt the luster was "impaired" enough to knock it a grade. And that scratch across the bust's cheek doesn't help either. Either way, it looks like a nice piece. :)

I think the hits on the obverse are enough to keep it at MS62 at best.

Is there a special reason why you wanted to submit this? I ask because the 79-S is cheap enough in grades to MS64 that you could have bought one already slabbed for what you paid for the grading, shipping and insurance fees added to the cost of acquisition.

That's what I was wondering, I had to look up values to be sure I wasn't crazy.

Looks like a 63 to me. Not sure why you sent it in for grading.

    64?!

    That's a 62 all day. A low end 62 at that, imho.

    Maybe a '78 reverse....?

    I'm going to say that coin is a MS62...it might have gotten graded a 63...but I think it's a 62.

I think you guys should relax about sending the coin in to NGC, he may have his reasons, heck, I've sent in some coins just for fun, just to see what they come back graded as, just to have them in a slab.

Based on these pictures, I would grade it MS-63. However, I've seen Morgans with more bag marks come back MS-65...I own a few!

Question: I assume the cheek mark that runs from the corner of the eye down even with the earlobe is that a scratch on the coin...is that correct?

I'm starting to think it may have bodybagged due to that scratch on the face, it's gnarly.

Here's an 1885-CC that NGC graded in the original GSA holder...for comparison. The Reverse is quite nice, but the Obverse has some distracting bag marks. Nevertheless, it received a net MS65.
