I know this is probably worth nothing but just got it as change at a store. Go ahead and let me have it .. lol .. but what is this coin?? Thanks
Okay you asked for it. Wow its the world's 1st invisible coin...should be worth a fortune!!! Edit okay there they are
The Panama coins are 1:1 with US coins and fit US vending machines, parking meters etc. If it is the size of a nickel it is worth a nickel, if it is the size of a dime it is worth a dime if it is the size of a quarter it is worth a quarter. The weight and size are the same as US coins and are interchangeable valid currency in both countries.
Of course some people don't understand this and will think you are trying to scam them with foreign money. Just put it in some type of machine that takes coins (the coin acceptor at the grocery store.) This same scenario is also true for the Bahamas coins. 1:1 interchangeable. Those are the only 2 (supposedly) that fit US vending machines, etc.
...and they're minted by the U.S. Mint from the same planchets. In Panama you'll see US and Panama coins mixed together in change
The OP's coin is a 2005 Did the US Mint make coins for Panama after 1983? The PCGS registry list for US minted World coins only shows the US minting coins for Panama until 1983 https://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/mu...tured-by-mints-united-states/composition/4824 Just looked it up on Numista. If I am reading this right these look to be minted by the RCM. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7986.html

Thank you, I stand corrected and better informed now! The US Mint did at one time make coins for Panama, but as you point out, not the OP's coin
