Just got a coin book, good idea or bad idea?

    Its Warman's U.S. Coins & Currency Field Guide 4th Edition. Good idea to get this book? I plan on getting the Redbook as well.

    For a beginning US collector, I wouldn't mess with anything other than the Redbook. I will never tell you more information is bad though.

    Always remember, though, as you advance you need more advanced books. Books are not just for valuations, books are the keys to knowledge that not only inform you more about a coin, but also increases your enjoyment of the hobby.

    It was something I thought I could start off with since I have the paper money as well. I will probably get the redbook and a few others when I go to B&N during my lunch break this week.

    I just purchased 'A Guidebook of United States Type Coins' an Official Redbook Publication by Q. David Bowers. So far it has been a good read and quite informative for my collecting goals. I like it and though it was worth the $20
