The ear is doubled, it is a DDO, and is in a nice condition.

I am not entirely convinced, as the confirming doubled areas such as under the neck,beard, and bow tie doesn't seem to be there. Perhaps it is just hard to see in the photo.

The "doubled" part of the lobe also seems to lack some on the left side, and doesn't have the rest of the curvature of the real lobe. Could be an ill fortuned chip. Wishing the best though.

I have to go along with Jim on this one I'm not convinced either .I have to say better clearer pics are needed to determine if this is the true doubled ear variety it looks more like a well placed interior die break to me the ear loupe is not conformed enough for me.I believe it's a interior die break no doubled die sorry.

A double ear!! Really cool to see that!! Usually when I look for errors on coins I never find anything so it's really nice to see someone else find something. Heck it's almost as good as finding it myself, well not that good but you know what I mean.

 

The coin is not a doubled die sorry it's an interior die break placed in a good location to fool the novices.Try and zoom in you will see what i mean.

I would tend to agree with Desertgem--if it's a DDO, it's different than 1984P-1DO-001, as offset on the ear looks different to me. Just to check, you might try pushing down the raised area with a toothpick...sometimes gas bubbles pop up the plating.

 

Dutchy boy I zoomed in 400 times the size it;s a interior die break it doesn't have the shape of an ear loupe go look for yourself I bet you a doubled die it's not a doubled ear loupe it's not conformed properly. I bet if the op post a better clear shot of that area you will see what I mean dutchy .NOW HERE'S A REAL DOUBLED EAR DO YOU SEE THE SHAPE OF THE EAR LOUPE DUTCHY. The op's is rounded and a blob a die break without a doubt Dutchy.

That is what is needed to be exactly sure. But I was saying, dont rule something out completely unless you are completely sure... and without a bigger picture you cant be completely sure.
