Just found 1989 d penny

    Just found this 1989 d penny. Looks to me as if the last 9 in the date is inverted. Am I correct in assuming this is an error coin and if so does anyone know any details on it

    Good luck with these newer pennies. I wont comment on new stuff after that judgemental thrashing I got on my 1st day talking, by a bunch of opinionated regulars who shout WRONG without discussion. Welcome to the party.

    Not sure what you mean by inverted, that would be upside down. It looks perfectly normal.

    What you might be seeing is a weird looking 9 that has an incused look to it due to Die Deterioration. It's common on Copper Plated Zinc Cents.
