    Hello all,
haven't posted in awhile, but a question came to mind about fluxuating silver prices and buying and selling silver coins. this is a question for everyone to post their opinions, so here is the question:

If you were to sell any silver at all, say, to get money for a car payment, how much would you compromise with a dealer so he would buy it off you and still make a profit? In other words, how much under melt would you go? Also, how much over melt would you pay for silver coins if you did not have the money to search for it? And would you sell silver to buy other coins?

Thanks for all inputs, I really enjoy seeing everyone's different views.

you can get melt on Epay Ebay all day long. Epay-bay takes 9% so, no reason to sell under that.
You can buy at melt on epay all day long.
I like to get the best grade possible that's selling at melt value. That way I get collectors value too and if silver goes down, which it can, I still have collector value, and, I have the best possible coin for my collection at that price range.
All this unless you want better grades, then its all collector value and melt doesn't matter.

I've found selling on here to be a good thing usually price a little under spot to give another forum member a deal and also get a deal myself because less ebay fee's etc. I also sell silver to buy other coins or paper money when I want something but don't want to cut into my discretionary budget.

LCS to buy 90% right at spot. I like to pick up rounds when I can but not willing to pay more than $1.50 premium. I like the 90% better but want to hold a little bit of everything. i also watch the for sale threads here for good buys. I trying to accumulate a 500oz min core stack so no selling right now. I did sell a roll of 40% on here once for spot, just to see how it would go and it sold within a day.

I never find much on ebay for melt??

Yeah, it's tough. Almost anything silver usually sells for melt plus a couple bucks (i.e. a '64 half would sell for $12 or so right now). Best I ever did was a Canadian quarter for $4.25 when melt was $4.50.

But then sometimes you see weird stuff like this...

I've called around to many local coin shops (and even pawn shops) to check buy prices and I deal with the fairest one. I suggest you do the same.
No reason to go in and haggle if you can run a few miles away and just sell for that price, no hassle.

Also, I've never gone in to sell something and not left without also buying something. I usually sell "discount" silver (40%, war nicks) and take half or less of the money and buy bullion or a Dansco or some random hole filler. It's always fun walking out with something new.
