I just called ANACS about 2 quarters I sent in, and one came back as a 1951 Superlative OC. Does that mean Obverse cameo? I probably should have asked the people. Also, is that less than a Heavy Cameo? I would appreciate any information, and finally does that mean the reverse wasn't a cameo?

I'm not sure what Superlative means but OC means Obverse Cameo...and yes that is less than HEVY(as they put it) CAMEO and it also means that they didn't think the Reverse was cameo...
I think ANACS has about the hardest grading of anything...today when I talked to Mr Taylor he said that PCGS had about the hardest he thought...but I list them as ANACS and NGC right there together and then PCGS...at a near 2ed....

they must be really tough on grading! I saw some PCGS coins the same years, that were far further from cameo than my coins, and they were graded deep cameo. I think for the purpose of selling these coins I should consider a crossover grade with pcgs.

One more question, does anacs include some indication of the rarity of the coins when they send them back? I'm guessing probably not, which means I should buy a copy of their population report.

Apparently anacs designates some coins with a superlative grade. I'm not sure why there would be a difference between superlative cameo and heavy cameo.

A grading Co. can't say what kind of rarity the coin is...that comes by work or searching and looking online...price and demand go into that too...

Their POP will only show how many they have graded...and so to make it better you would also have to add every grading Co. in the book to know about (and even this wouldn't be 100% right) many have been graded.

ANACS is good with coins IMO and I think PCGS is not as hard...it all depends...do you want a coin graded right and sell it for the right price or do you want to have the coin overgraded and sell it to someone who doesn't know that and will pay more just because of the holder...NEVER buy the holder...buy the coin.

I'm not sure that there is a difference - but call them again and ask. Also - what grade did they assign to the quarters ?

The 1951 was graded as a proof-66 superlative OC, and the 1950 was graded a proof-65 cameo. I have definitely seen worse coins get deep cameo from PCGS than my coins. I have also seen worse coins get higher grades.

I have looked at the NGC pop reports, as well as the PCGS pop reports. I'd just be curious to see the ANACS reports, since I feel like they graded these coins a lot more conservatively than PCGS or NGC would have.

ANACS only publishes their pop reports once a year if memory serves - and you have to order it. But I wouldn't be so sure about them grading them more conservatively than NGC or PCGS - there aint many 66's and 67's for those coins. 65 CAM and 66 S-CAM are killer grades for those dates !! I'd be counting my lucky stars if I were you ;)

I will admit I am a bit surprised, I don't usually miss by more than 1 point even when grading from a pic. But they had the coins in hand and all I had was a pic - so I would trust their judgement over mine any day.
