Looks like a nice coin. Some will fault it doesnt have all the legends on the front. I tend to stay away from this era since many get bronze disease easily.

Eng, I was just thinking the same thing. I like these potin tets, perhaps I'll slowly try for one of each emperor/empress.

Can you elaborate on this, or does anyone else have experience with Potin Tets and bronze disease? I have my eye on a few as well, but I don't want to get saddled with expensive, rotting coins.

Do a search on tetradrachm on vcoins and sort to cheapest & you will see how many potins are listed and many have BD.

I had 2 potins from different dealers get BD & neither had it in their photos but as soon as I opened the packages the green powder was already forming. Sent back, got refunds.

Early Tets seem OK but once nearly the silver is gone BD tends to be a bit common.

I have several and none has BD. In fact, I just did a check to be sure.

    Very nice jw,

Mat, you say the early coins tend to have less BD, would that be like years 1-5. i understand all bronze coins can come up with BD. i might post a picture of a cleaned Roman coin that became fully engulfed in BD in just 2 mts. We should check these coins every month.

huh? I am talking about early empire ones like Nero, Augustus, and even severan period doesnt get it much. I would say from the time of gallienus & forward do they tend to get more susceptible to BD.

There is empresses I want in Potin form but I tend to just stay away for personal preference.

ENG => yahhooo => another super-cool new purchase!! (well played)

Are all of these new babies from your ol' Local Coin Club (The Water-Buffalo Lodge)?

I also have a handful of these TETs from Alexandria:

    Gallienus

    Julia Mamaea

    Carinus

    Tacitus
    Tacitus Alexandria TET a.jpg
    Tacitus Alexandria TET b.jpg

=> like Bing, I also went and checked all of these TETs for Bronze Disease (happily, although a couple of 'em have some green patches, all of the green patches are hard crusties, rather than flaky active green-goblins!!)

The Carus is the posthumous issue. I believe it is the only one available in this series. The other unusual Alexandria tet is the Vahabalathus/Aurelian coin.

Ummm, I think I got lead astray a bit by a slightly inaccurate coin-description (after tracking-down Milne 4632, it must be Probus on the obverse)

=> hey, I'm an engineer (I'm a numbers guy ... readin' n thinkin' ain't exactly my strong suits!!)
