Valerius Gratus is also a character in the fictional Ben-Hur. In the story either Ben-Hur or his sister—depending on which Hollywood version you're watching—accidentally dislodges a roof tile on a building from which folks are viewing a Roman procession below. The tile strikes Gratus and renders him senseless. The consequences for Ben is the slave galleys and prison for his mother and sister who tried unsuccessfully to intercede on Ben's behalf and so on.
Hi Jacob—It's primarily dusty soil and mineral deposits from the arid Levant region. Great question! I need to do some more research on that.
Awesome sauce!!! Thanks to you, Deacon Ray, I'm proud to say that I have two examples of Hendin 1339 in my collection. I really like Hendin 1337! Good work! Erin
Once again @Deacon Ray your presentation is fantastic, as are your coins. Your Hendin 1337 coin is really attractive, and so is Hendin 1339.
I have to admit I love the old biblical/historical epics of the 50s and 60s. Ben-Hur is probably the best of the bunch. Great stuff!
