The other day someone gave me a couple of coins from Jordan. (She had recently travelled there.) The Half Dinar will be shown in another thread.

The Five Piastres is nickel plated steel. (Yes, it is magnetic.) What I found interesting about this coin is there is a large die crack on the obverse from about 10:30 to the ear of King Abdullah II. The die crack extends over the rim. There is also cracking (or severe die chips) along the truncation of King Abdullah II's bust.

This die may not have survived long enough to strike many more coins after this one.

I will try to obtain better photos of the crack or die chips at the truncation of the bust. (My lighting was not the best for these photos.)

    What is that 2006?

I've been cleaning up some 1964 mint sets. The packaging wasn't stable.
