I have mentioned here that I bought rolls of 2005 Bison nickels, 2005 Ocean nickels, and 2005 Kansas quarters, put them in Air-Tites, and distributed them to some of the Fortunate Few (TM) who are in my good graces: family, friends, acquaintances at work. Last year I sent 2004 ASEs, but to a smaller group (about 14, as I recall). The rewards have been as follows: 1) The fun and satisfaction I’ve had in giving the coins to folks not familiar with coin collecting. 2) One of the recipients took up collecting as a result. 3) Today one of the folks at work brought in a return gift: an uncirculated 2003 two-dollar note in a nice little presentation case. This particular individual showed the most enthusiasm when I gave him the Bison nickel many months ago, and has some past experience with collecting. A very nice gesture on his part.
Cool...nice story to hear and the fact that genuine generosity still exist without looking for a return is refreshing. The return gesture was for your good deed! Kudo's Bacchas... RickieB
Thanks, Rickie. The only point I'm trying to make is that for a very small sum of money (a few nickel rolls or even quarter rolls), you can generate some excitement and have some fun. I know there are lotsa folks who do way more for the hobby than I do. (For one thing, they have a lot more knowledge to impart than I have ! ) I just want to demonstrate that a little money and effort can go a long way.
