Jefferson war nickles I just purchased a set of Jefferson war nickles from Ebay. Item # 3950072481. To me they look pretty nice. I called the seller and he said they were ms65 w/at least 1/2 w/6 steps. I havent received them yet. I was looking for any opinions as far as price vs. condition on this set. Here is the link. just copy and paste into the browser. Thanks for the help http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?viewItem&rd=1&item=3950072481
It's impossible to tell grade based on the pics - and to see full steps, not a chance - the pics are too small. If you can get larger pics once you receive the coins - we'll be happy to help
I can't tell anything from the pictures, but I have dealt with this seller in the past and had no problems at all. It would seem to me, though, that if a lot of them were 6 full steps, he would have pictured at least 1. Please be sure to post pictures/scans when you get them.
I find that to be a very interesting claim. The '43-D and '44-D are pretty common with 6 steps, but the others? I would be very surprised if half (BTW, what's half of 11 coins?) had 6 full steps. And all 11 coins grading MS-65? For $75? Hope it's true, but there was no mention of that in the auction, and if it is true (the claims of condition and strike), the seller certainly shorted himself.
I know. I though the same thing. I read his feedback, seems really good. called him, will return $$ I am not happy. The last set I bid on was a gem bu set last week that ended at $138.00.
1/2 of 11 would be pretty tough. HMMMMM. I believe he said 5 of the 11 were full 6 step and the others 4 or 5 steps. But we will see. If I can get a good enough scan I will post them. Sending off the $ this weekend so it will probably be another week or so before they arrive.
