Hey I just bought a few rolls of the Jefferson Presidential Dollar - P Rolls ... I never can find the Denver Rolls at the bank ... anyway, after going through a few rolls I found that some of the Jefferson Coins had really weak edge lettering ... fading "In God We Trust" ... sometimes with trust not even on the coin itself... I need to figure out how to use my camera but this is the best picture I could do... is this an error?

I also noticed that on 3 of the coins there must have been a die crack by Jeffersons eyes or something because the sides of his nose and eyes seemed to shine like a proof coin would ... literal perfect reflection like no other part of the coins ... maybe overpolishing? is this any error?

yes and yes although how much they will be worth is anyone's guess however if the "trust" is misisng it might be worth more as opposed to lightly inscribed

well the way it is realy is that it is extremely lightly inscribed and some of it so light that you can barely see it at all .. even with the loop ... are these weak imprints a confirmed error, because if they aren't I'll just put them back in the rolls and get my money back... i have at least 100 with weak imprints... i bought half a box

how did you get your pictures so clear? i couldnt get mine that clear? ...yeah I figured I will wait a few days .. but were the previous coins with that such as the washington and adams considered an error? and what about the error at the eyes?

lol getting all of those graded would cost me a fortune ... i have about 100 weak edge lettering and i found about 50 eye errors

i just kept pushing the button lightly to focus on macro setting,it took a few times but its an inexpensive camera

    rftbunny,
you should ask first, and unless you state that it is not the coin you would get it is fraud,so you should use your own picture

The weak edge letters are caused by the distance between the roller (which forces the coin against the edge die) and the edge lettering die being set too far apart. This results in a lower pressure and the letters aren't forced into the coin.

The feature around Jefferson's eyes is not caused by a die crack. You got it on your second guess, it is a result of overpolishing of the dies. The deepest recesses of the design are created by some of the highest point on the die. If the die is overpolished the fields will be ground down far enough that the polishing lap will also make contact with those high points in the design as well and they will start being ground down as well. It is what created those flat polished areas between the eyes and the nose.
