Hey all I just want a opinion about some Jeffersons I've saved throughout the years about $20 face value that I may want to part ways with. What do you think a fair value would be? no key dates most are circulated and I've not really looked through them for the most part for varieties. I want to sell them as a lot I was thinking 10 cent each is that too high or too low.
I am in the process of completing an UNC Jeff collection and almost done, I am paying from .50 cents to a few dollars for those examples raw unless it is a FS Coin or a key date(luckly only a couple of those ). Dependant upon the condition of your coins prior to 1960 I think that .10 cents per is a reasonable place to start. Just my opinion though. I would check fleabay with the Sold filter on, to get an idea of what they are selling for and price accordingly. After 1960 I would probably not pay much over face unless it appeared a significantly higher grade. Not withstanding proofs
10 cents each is WAY too low for war nickels (1942-1945). In circulated condition, these are easily identified by their "dirty" look and oversized mint mark. Their composition is 35% silver. At today's prices, that silver content (0.056 oz) is worth about 95 cents. Generally, circulated war nickels aren't worth anything beyond their silver content -- mintages are too high. But there are a few rare varieties. Do the research and examine your coins closely BEFORE you sell. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1019/Wartime-silver-nickels/
Yes, of course,.... I completely spaced War nickels. Thanks for the correction @COCollector , he is absolutely correct. My comment was generally meant for nickels that were non silver. Good catch on that. I apologize for providing bad info on thoses.
