Similar to a guess the grade thread, in this thread we will only focus on the steps. Are they full steps or not? Please vote in the attached poll. I will not divulge the date/mm or grade of the coin, but I will say that it is a war nickel. And remember, full steps = five full steps. As always, opinions welcome!
I look at it as I read about some, you can see five full steps. Did not say it had to be all across. Extra nice no doubt if it were.
I am going with yes. I think the marks across the top 4 steps don’t rise to the level of preventing full steps.
I don't understand that comment. If a coin has full steps, by definition, it must have 5 full steps. PCGS requires five full steps for their FS designation, whereas NGC has both a 5FS and 6FS designation.
it's no from me ....6/5/4/5 ....area under the third column has enough of a break to prevent the designation
I've got it 6-5-4-5. It's very close under the third column but I have it as a no. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if a TPG gives a FS but I would say it just misses it.
I think this one's real close because the center part looks good and the only weak part, just to the right of center, doesn't go all the way through, especially on that 4th step. I gave it a no. Still, those are strong steps, especially on the silver-alloy, and that should be noted, the way I look at it. It just won't get the nod for 5, I don't think.
