    Hi All,

My grandfather was an avid coin collector, and created this frame a long time ago. The Silver Ryo Hanafuri in the middle, which still looks brand new, has always stood out vs. the other aged coins. My gut is that it is a fake, the few others I have seen online have looked very beat up. Does anybody have an opinion on this?

    Thanks!

No idea if it's a fake or not, but I like seeing different things like this.

    Probably because there aren't.

As I pointed out in reply to this identical duplicate post back in January:
Since then I've searched several other resources on early Japanese coinage (including the Japan Mint website's historical section), and consulted some collectors with more knowledge than my own about Tokugawa era coinage, all without success.
