I need help making sure my research is correct and I'm trying to figure out any collectors value if that research is correct. I came across what I beleivw to be Japanese Military Yen with no bank value after it was voided based on my research. Can anyone confirm this to be true?
Yes, that's a regular issue WWII era Japanese 50 Sen note. A Sen, now an obsolete denomination, was 1/100th of a Yen. The first picture above shows the front upside-down. It shows Yasukuni shrine, now a pretty controversial place. These bills are quite common and are typically worth around $5 or less in mint condition. Below is a picture of one I purchased at a show a few years ago for $3.50 US. There is a date running downwards on the far right side in slightly smaller print: "昭和十九年" or Showa Year 19 or 1944. The one posted above shows the same year. It looks like these were printed from Showa Year 17 to Showa Year 20, or 1942 to 1945. They are extremely colorful and fascinating little things, but alas, no real value.
