Picked this up yesterday at a coin show. The card said it is from the "Tokyo model airplane study group" 1935. I mainly bought it because i really liked the image on the obverse. But I was wondering if anyone out there has any further info, or can read this script?
That's accurate information on the card. The legends are in the formal stylized script usually used for personal seals. The obverse has the character meaning "Award" at the top, and the Roman letters at the bottom stand for "Tokyo Mokei Hikoki Kenkyukai" - "Tokyo Model Airplane Study Group". The reverse legends across the top and the middle both spell out the group name; the single character in the upper field means "Present" or "Gift", and the bottom legend is "Tokyo-shi Kyobashi-ku" or "Tokyo City, Kyobashi-ward", a neighborhood of Central Tokyo, more or less between the Imperial Palace and the Ginza. That's probably where the convention or meeting was held at which this was awarded for an unspecified accomplishment. There is no date on the piece.
