    Showa 46 which is 1971. A very common coin in this condition, still worth face value at 10 yen or around 10 US cents, give and take exchange rate condition.

    The date is Showa 昭和 46 四十六 Year 年 (Showa yon jyuu roku nen). Corresponds to the Western calendar date of 1971.

    These are still in circulation in Japan.
