The inscription is 嘉祐通寳 which was used on Chinese coins cast during the years 1056-1063 of the reign of Emperor Ren Zong of the Northern Song Dynasty.

The Japanese also minted coins with the same inscription during the years 1668-1685 and are known as "Nagasaki Trade Coins".

However, there is a difference in the calligraphy between the Chinese and Japanese versions of the coin.

Based on the calligraphy, the coin appears to be the Chinese version.

Large quantities of Chinese cash coins were imported into Japan so it would not be unusual to find Song Dynasty coins in Japan.

Even though it is almost a thousand years old, this Song Dynasty coin is both common and inexpensive.

I find it hard to distinguish the Chinese from the Japanese coins of this era. I will be interested to see what our experts here have to tell you.

The Chinese coin has a blank reverse which I believe will also be the case for the OP's coin.

Here's the back, it's just blank.
So to sum it up even though its over 1000 years old its not worth nothing :-(

Definitely curious. This one and a 1861 five confederate dollars got me looking. Only to find out that my confederate note is a counterfeit
