I am trying to fill a Dansco Japan Type set album and looking for several Japan 1 Yen coins, the 1870 Sun, 1874-1887 Large Dragon, 1870-1896 Gin, 1887-1912 Small Dragon, 1914 Yen and the 1875-1878 Japan Trade Dollar. I need several other 5 sen to 50 sen coins from 1870-1871 and 1/2 to 50 sen from 1873-1877 as well. Can any one help?

If you are in the US, I believe it's best to go to coin fairs as they would be priced much better. eBay is no longer a bargain as sellers have to deal with fees, postage and possibly taxes, meaning mark up price could be easily 25%+. Posting in "want to buy" thread may be a good idea too to buy from fellow collectors.

The three most expensive coins would be the trade dollar, 1870 yen and surprisingly 1870 5 sen if you want it in a good condition. Most other coins are very affordable and should be obtainable under 100 dollars each.

This is what my completed set looks like

My opinion would be to list the exact coins you need and what grade you are looking to get. The trade dollar will be very, very expensive unless you accept a details coin. The 1 yen slots will be very expensive if you are looking for high grade. Most, if not all of the minor stuff can be found reasonably priced with patience.

I have most of the 1 Yen silver coins you are after.
I was living in Japan, now back in Australia, but will be in the US for the next 2 months.

    What condition are you after?
The price of 1 Yen coins has gone up since about 2019, so it's more difficult to find them for less than $100, even at less than EF.

I don't have spares of the trade dollar, but I have a few 1870s, plus quite a few extras of other dates.
