January 15th NEWPS (To include the F.U.N. show pickups)

    US Philippine Coins:
There were very few high grade US Philippine coins to be found on the bourse floor at the recent F.U.N show. This is typical as high grade coins in this series are scarce at best! I was able to pickup a few better date coins from some dealers and I cherry picked a couple as well. Some went straight to collectors. There is always a demand for better date, problem free USPI coins.

    1905 One Centavo (raw)
    VF-35 $18.00

    1908-S One Centavo (raw)
AU 55/58 with lots of luster and red remaining. $65.00

    1909-S One Centavo (raw)
AU50 with a couple of tiny spots on the obverse. $120.00

    1918-S One Centavo Large "S", Allen# 2.16a (raw)
Fine details with rim bumps, damage and some corrosion. This is no doubt a problem coin and in most other date/mm combinations would be thrown in a junk bin. The large S variety is very scarce and this coin would make an acceptable hole filler. A problem free example in this grade would command around $200. My price: $95.00

1944-S One Centavo MS66 Red (NGC)
Nice coin, well struck with is uncommon for the commonwealth coins. A few tiny specks can be seen with a 5x loupe. A small toning spot is visible on the obverse but does not distract. Coin is solid red minus the above description. $100

1909-S Ten Centavos EF 45 (raw)
Very nice original EF coin, some might would call this AU50. Completely original skin. This is one of the key dates to the Ten Centavos series and rare this nice. Very affordable at $250

1914-S Ten Centavos Long Crossbar, Allen # 8.10b AU, Cleaned (raw)
While not one of the "key" coins, the 1914-S is a semi key and tough to find in any pleasing condition. This coin has been cleaned and slightly polished. Some hairlines are visible with a 5X loupe. The 1914-S is a tough coin period but this popular variety is even tougher. $125.00

    1908-S Twenty Centavos AU (raw)
I have two of theses coins and both grade AU. One has an original "crusty" skin while the other is somewhat white and clean. Both are nice examples. $35.00 each

    1907-S Fifty Centavos EF (raw)
Nice original coin, borderline AU50. $85.00

    US Type Coins:
I was able to pick up a decent amount of quality US type coins recently. The bulk of my new purchases came from the F.U.N. show. I was lucky and had an early shot at a PCGS box full of seated and bust type coins with a few key date barbers thrown in for fun. I picked out six coins I wanted to purchase but the seller wanted to sell the box as a whole. I bought the entire box to get the six I wanted and four of the six sold the next day along with others from the set.
