I won't be buying one of these because of the design. Although it is politically correct, it is historically inaccurate. My opinion only --- others?

Apparently you've not read any of the news articles related to the design choice. Although there were no slaves at the founding of Jamestown, one was included on the design for purposes of portraying cultural diversity.

I agree... aesthetically it is very nice. Let's make a beautiful coin commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Let's use that famous painting that depicts the signing for the coin design. And by the way, let's put FDR in that picture since so many people think he did so much to advance freedom.

I'll be buying the coins! I agree about the PC statement but hey I collect Jefferson nickels and I think the man himself was pretty despicable along with most of the presidents that adorn our coinage but I collect just the same and wish we would revert back to non-political subjects for our coinage.

Wouldn't that be great! Lady Liberty, the flag, eagles. I also like the allegorical representations of concepts like freedom that were used on the reverse of some currency long ago. I remember seeing some engravings of these in a coin mag somewhere. They were magnificent.

I will be buying a few only because I like the ship design on the reverse. Could care less about any political view point.

I'll be definately getting PR/BU Silver set. Wish I could afford the gold sets. My wife and I are planning on taking a trip there for our 5th anniversary..

I may get 13 proof sets for nieces/nephews for X-mas in lieu of Proof ASE.

This is the nicest design they have had in a long time!

Yea, I got an add in the mail a few days ago that said if you order them before FEB 12th its considered a pre-order and they are a few bucks cheaper (4.00 for the PR and 2.00 for the UNC in Silver)...

I plan on getting two of each of the Silver PRs and UNCs.... As much as I'dlike too I can't really afford the Gold ones...

I have somebody getting me a few from the Jamestown settlement on Thursday the 11th. Edmund Moy the director of the mint is going to be there signing the COA's. I get down to Jamestown once or twice a year and love the place.

Jim M. is saying that the mint has them in hand, so I guess that they will be mailing them almost immediately right, wrong?

the dollar is not an aesthetic knockout but the gold $5 is nice, I may pick up an unc gold.

I like the dollar. I think the Reverse is particularly nice. I like the $5 also. However, I just ordered one of the $1 coins to have an example of one. I don't really want to spend the money on the $5, even though I'd kind of like to have one. I prefer to put that money towards another collection I'm working on.
