Isn't it about time that Taylor stop thinking about new slabs.....he has been back at ICG how long?? maybe a few weeks and ICG is coming out with a new slab just right for the President Dollars---it is like the newer NGC slabs but this is what gets me. He says that the holders has the "prongs" in the right places so the date and mintmark shows---Now ND has posted on here that the rim detail is not going to be at the same place every time and that it might rotate.....so what is Taylor going to do then???.... Maybe he needs to be more concerned about grading and being stricter on grading than he should about holders. Speedy
I think ICG is very conservative on circulated coins and those coins found below MS68. They got a bad wrap years ago on giving out too many 70 grades on moderns, but I wouldn't throw stones at ICG when your beloved NGC has been handing out 70 grades like it is no tomorrow. But when it comes to overall grading, product and service, I have a lot of respect for ICG and their team of experts. Apparantly, I am not the only one that has this opinion either... The COIN DEALER Newsletter Certified Coin Market Indicator™: http://www.greysheet.com/cdn/cdnccmi.asp And sooooooo what! If ICG can come out with a better slab and address the needs of collectors and dealers...well, that is called listening to your customer. That is how the free market place works.
I would agree----ICG is pretty good on coins that are circulated and dated before 1964---after that they are pretty much like the new ANACS. And as I have said over and over again---I don't like NGC giving out the 70 grade any more than you do---but at least they give it to a coin that is a 70 unlike PCGS who will knowingly undergrade a coin just so they don't lose money. That is hurting the hobby. Also as it has been said over and over again---the CDN listing of grading companies isn't any good---it has said many many things that are known to be wrong....so I wouldn't hold much hope for that. I think there is more to this than meets the eye---I mean the new ANACS holder has almost killed ANACS---and the reasoning behind this new holder doesn't make any "cents" as I posted above. Speedy
