This is the 2009 LP2 that arrived today from Jaceravone's LP2 P&D giveaway. Jacervone found several LP2 DDR 01 and DDR 02 and wanted to know if any of the giveaway recipients received one. Here is mine... BTW, thanks Jaceravone for the generous giveaway :thumb: -LTB
I ALSO RECIEVED COINS FROM Jacervone AND I FOUND IN MINE 5 LP2 DDR 01'S AND 4 LP2 DDR 02'S SO A GREAT BIG THANKS TO JOE THANKS JIM
Ddr #002! Me, too (I got coins), and me too (I got a DDR), and me too (I want to thank Joe for his generosity). I got an amazing exmaple of a DDR-002 (extra finger). My scanner is really lousy when it comes to shiny coins . . . so this is the best I can do for now -- a close up of the actual coin that Joe sent to me: Joe: thanks for your generosity!
DDR is "double die reverse" -- and 01, 02, etc., are the known varieties. There's a nice website that lists all of them with pix . . . its URL escapes me at the moment. I'll bet somebody here can tell us . . .
On the first page of this forum it has pics of the 001 and 002, and the second page has the 004. Collectors Universe Forums - "UNOFFICIAL" Lincoln Formative DDR finds thread.
Ahh . . . here's the site Wexler's Die Varieties: http://doubleddie.com/1801.html And a page devoted just to 2009 cents: http://doubleddie.com/60701.html
Joe sent me a DDR-01 as well. My pic taking abilities are not good though. Sorry 4 no pics. Thanks Joe!!!
Thanks for all the shout out guys. I think what's amazing is that about half of the Philly Lincoln roll that I had opened had the DDR #1 or #2. I did not find out about the error until after the coins were sent out. From what I have gathered on collectors universe is that the prices have tumbled now that the word is out. Apparently there have been many of these found. Too many to be a rarity, but a neat variety nonetheless. I appears that they have pinned down a date range that is stamped on the boxes from the mint where these varieties are being found. I haven't looked into it any more since these were announced earlier this week here on CT, so I don't have any more current info. Congrats to everyone that has found them.
