I tried to "Make Offer" of $.02, but the minimum eBay would let me put was $.99, which I think is too much for an opinion.
It appears that this guy works for Stratuscom (National Collector's Mint). I do not know or know of him, so I cannot say one way or the other as to if he's a legit expert or just a hawker. However, I am not impressed with the listing and find it to be rather cheesy.
Yes, but thanks to a simple trick you can bring it back. Here: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...COIN-EXPERT-/271412361053+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk
People spend a lot more than that for an opinion on the grade of their coin from a TPG, and that is all the grade is, an opinion.
An opinion that is recognized and trusted by everyone in the business. Whereas that $99 an hour guy, who's going to trust him? Your offer of 0.02 was way to generous.
Agreed. Consultation by someone who is well known and recognized in the field does have value. But...who is this guy? I don't see much value there.
A coin consultant? There are perhaps three people in the history of coin collecting I'd actually pay for whatever consultation they might think they had, and they're all dead. Maybe I should offer my services as consultant to coin consultants.
Maybe this guy should just start his own company as a fourth party grader and add a sticker to an already graded coin if he approves of the grade.... Oh, right, that's already been done!
