I came across 40 Bohol Emergency 5 Peso notes in an Ebay lot, S136 in the Krause Specialized catalog of banknotes. Most are in pretty stinky shape. Did someone meticulously gather these over many years? Were they brought back by a soldier? The serial numbers range from 9124 to 203408. What should I do with these?
By the way, it was a big lot of Philippines Emergency Money. I got two new "places" for my collection, Negros Occidental and Iloilo. I'm happy with these alone so the 40 from Bohol are just an extra bonus in the lot.
ten sub-types here... some hand stamped, initialed in pen, or both. http://www.banknote.ws/COLLECTION/countries/ASI/PIL/PILS0136.htm
After the war several types of Philippine guerrilla notes were redeemed. The redeemed notes were held by the Philippine government. In the mid 1960s the notes began to make their way into numismatic circles.
