Do you remember when we were in college and we used to watch The Bob Newhart Show and play the "Hi Bob!" game? I have been working on a new game for a while now and I think I finally have it.

It's called the HSN Coin Collector game, and here's how it works:

You watch Mike Mezack and whomever his co-host of the day is and listen carefully to what he says. Every time that Mezack repeats the last sentence he has said exactly, then you have to drink.

Example: If he says:" These satin finish Lincolns are the rarest Lincoln Cents of the last 20 years, the rarest Lincoln Cents of the last 20 years!"

This is your cue to drink. Every single time he does that, (repeats himself exactly), you take a drink. But wait there's more!

Whenever Mike says:" The biggest determining factor of value is rarity!" You have to finish your beverage. If he says it twice, well, then that's 2 whole cans!!!

Next time you DVR HSN's Coin Collector, try this game and see if you can get up and walk to bed. I dare ya!

I think I'll play the same game reading emails from a certain online dealer who uses sensationalism and manipulation to sell products!

"Buy these coins before the US Mint stops making cents!"

    *drink*

From what I've observed on that HSN Show, I calculate that folks would be passed out cold within 20 minutes. Game Over!

As a bonus round for shots, you could have Robert Chambers randomly pop up and say "leading Numismatic catalog"

Sounds like too much drinking for me lol
But good idea for those drinking hounds.

  11. Sounds like a fun drinking game, but the ones who really need a drink are those that buy from HSN only to learn after the fact that they could have bought the same coin for much less elsewhere. TC

I love it! You'd be getting drunk in a hurry for sure.

Another great TV coin sales show drinking game can be played while watching "Coin Vault".

Every time Robert Chambers says "While they last!" you have to take a shot. I've never known anyone to last longer than an hour at this game. :D

Where was this game 30 years ago?? Mike, I think you need to patent it! It will sell great in a box with official OGP packaging.. Taking a que from Race (And Mr. Chambers) "While they last!" ;)

I love how these guys on coin collector manhandle the coins on the occasions they take them out of their holders or rolls. They did that with a lot of Pennies. They also push those useless (IMHO) gold plated quarters. The box they come in is nice, as they say, quarters included, gee ya think? All those UNC quarters have been ruined. And what's with charging 169.00 for the MS70 ANACS ASE? Way overpriced. I'm shocked these guys are still on the air. I do like the price figures they give for the sets on individual coins. I bought the 2010 Kennedy proof/satin finish set from them as a gift for someone. the 2010 S Kennedy had a fingerprint on it! I got my money back. Uncirculated my A@@. Not after you busted open 1000's of sets with their dirty grubby hands. I always use gloves. I'm finding I am more and more alone on wearing gloves when handling coins. I understand SOME fingerprints can come from the mint from employees handling them, but when I see these guys take out an UNC coin and handle it with bare hands then say HURRY get your UNC set now or whatever, to me its not UNC anymore. Maybe I'm just too picky.

Everytime theyse yahoo's handle a coin with their bare hands you take ANOTHER SHOT. I don't think there would be many left standing lol.

In that case, the challenge would be making it to the end of the show before having to visit the "water closet"!

The thing that I like best about the Coin Vault is the clock that they put on an item. I have started watching this timer intensely noticing that they never stop selling that item when the clock expires, they just keep going. In marketing it is what we call prompting the audience to action even when it is completely irrelevant to the sale.

I have started running a timer from the time the clock ends until they actually move on and have been amazed at the results.

I think you should check this out. try holding your breath until they move on... I bet you can't!

The real danger of this game is that after you have played it for a bit the sales pitch may start sounding good to you and you may start ORDERING!!

Conder, that is where the 30 Day, No Risk return comes in! ;)
