I love OFEC collecting. I've got so many, I'm not even sure at the moment. I just got a new one yesterday, Faeroe Islands. Definitely not fancy, but....new. I use a VERY loose definition of OFEC to maximize the number of places I have. I tend to count a new place if it is a new government, i.e. Kingdom of Portugal and Republic of Portugal. However, I also collect/accumulate banknotes and there are quite a few places that I can add this way, Oceania is one, but there are more, I'm thinking Iloilo too. You get the idea. However, I also have a pretty large world stamp collection left over from when I was young(er). I decided to expand my OFEC to include them as well. Wow is there a LOT of places that don't come up in coins. Portuguese Mozambique is an interesting place. In coins, you need 1 to complete the "place". In stamps....a bunch. Portuguese Mozambique was divided into the following: Lourenco Marques, Inhambane, Quelimane, Tete, Mozambique, Zambezia, Nyasa, and the Manica and Sofala region which was controlled by the Mozambique Company. All issued distinctly different stamps. There are "offices abroad", occupation stamps, rebel governments, provisional governments, etc. I've been pulling out an OFEC set of the stamps, looking for great postmarks from strange cities, towns, and villages. Don't get me wrong, I really respect coins way more than stamps, but my OFEC collection was stalling, awfully hard to find new places.
