Once again, I present to you to you all, "Terrific Toner Tuesday!" All Coins, Tokens or medals that have "toned". ( Toning on a coin is the change of colour brought about through oxidization, which forms a thin layer of tarnish on the metal's surface. It is a natural occurrence in the life of a coin and happens over many decades. Toning can vary in aesthetics, and thus can alternately add or detract from a coin's value. Wikipedia) Thanks all and Have a Great day! My finest toned raw coin.....
This is how I received this from the mint. I bought it just after it was released and was I surprised when I opened it.
I just ordered a new lamp that should help with getting the toning on my coins (that have it) to show much better than my typical 3000K LED's. 3000k, while easy on the eyes, tends to yellow-wash everything shiny when trying to take pictures. This new lamp has settings varying from 2700k to 6000k, so I'm excited to see the difference! Technically speaking, my ceiling lights are capable up to either 5 or 6000k, but I'd have to pull every one of them out of the ceiling to adjust the selector switch, put them back up, take my pictures, then repeat the process to get them back to 2700k. I've got them at 2700k because anything higher made our living room look like an Operating Room in a hospital because I put in 8" wafer lights lol!
Without further ado, here's some rudimentary pictures of what I was hoping for with this light. Color! Sorry for some being slightly out of focus. I'll get better images in the near future once I figure out a half decent setup for this.
