The text looks Greek to me.

The writing is Greek…. I’m thinking medal more than coin. I don’t see a denomination on it anywhere.

Here's the same medal on a Ukrainian website:

    https://violity.com/ua/112366627-italiya-napoleonovskaya-medal-1805-1814-evgenij---pravitel-italii

    Description:
Italy, Napoleonic Medal 1805-1814 "Eugene - Ruler of Italy"
Obverse: head of Eugene Bogarne to the left, around the inscription: EΥΓENEIOΣ ITAΛIAE
Reverse: militarized coat of arms, around the inscription: EN ANΔPAΣIΝ E. AΩIΔ

For reference: Eugene Bogarne - the adopted son of Napoleon served as the ruler of the Kingdom of Italy under King Napoleon. He commanded the 4th Corps of the French Army in the Patriotic War of 1812. Eugene Boharne distinguished himself in the battles of Ostrovno, near Smolensk, Borodino, Zvenigorod, Maloyaroslavets, Vyazma, Krasny, Vilno.
After the first abdication of Napoleon, Beauharnais was seriously considered by Alexander I as a candidate for the French throne.
On June 20, 1805, the Masonic Order - Great East of Italy was founded, the first grand master (commander) of which was Eugène Beauharnais.
A very interesting medal of Napoleonic Italy in good collectible condition.
The price is reduced for the purpose of sale!
I recommend it to the collection!

    :)

I am curious, how did you obtain this unusual medal?

I find the piece very interesting, and while the reference by willieboyd2 answers many questions, it leaves me with other questions unanswered. For example, why is the inscription in Greek? Eugene Beauharnais, having left Italy after the abdication of Napoleon, retired to Germany. Why the reverse inscription, "A man among men"? Is it posthumous, since the symbolic Roman armor is hanging as if taken off, or just after his retirement? Whatever, it is a nice medal.

The armor and weapons is a trophy from defeated enemies and it symbolizes victory.

Yes, that's an old theme, dating back to the Roman Republic and maybe earlier. Below is an image of a coin of Julius Caesar showing the same theme. In this case, captured enemy personnel are below the arms and armor on the post. Julius_armsimages.jpg

My curiosity is killing me -- what are you seeing that's "offensive"?

Offensive as in fighting back in war not as in not nice to people
